What is the Shoutcast Directory?
The Shoutcast Directory (yp.shoutcast.com) is the official listing of online radio stations.
If your station is set as public, it can appear in the directory so that listeners can easily find it through the Shoutcast website or apps.
Why does the “Directory Warning” appear?
When Centova Cast or the Shoutcast server cannot complete the registration process, a warning appears such as:
This usually happens because:
-
The station is set to private (public=0).
-
The authhash (the unique key that identifies your station in the Shoutcast Directory) has not been created.
-
There is a temporary connection issue with yp.shoutcast.com.
How to Register Your Station
Step 1: Log in to Centova Cast
-
Log in to your Centova Cast Control Panel.
-
From the menu, go to Configuration → Settings.
-
Under the Stream tab, make sure Public Server is set to Always or Default Public.
Step 2: Create the Authhash
-
From Centova, open the Shoutcast DNAS Admin Interface:
-
Log in using your admin password.
-
In the menu, look for Create Authhash.
-
Fill in the details:
-
Station Name
-
Website URL
-
Language and Genre
-
Contact Email
-
-
Click Save.
The server will generate and store the Authhash.
Step 3: Verify
-
Restart your stream from Centova Cast.
-
If everything is correct, your station will appear in the Shoutcast Directory.
What if I don’t want my station in the Directory?
If you prefer your station to remain private, simply set Public Server = Never in Centova Cast.
In this case, the warning message may still appear, but you can safely ignore it — your radio stream will remain fully functional for your listeners.
