Multicast Video: Stream Targets - your channel on YouTube, Facebook, Twitch and more

Applies to: Multicast Video. Not sure which panel you have? See Which radio or video panel do I have?

With Stream Targets your channel is broadcast at the same time on other platforms: YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, Kick, TikTok, Rumble, Trovo and Restream.io, or any other RTMP server. This way you reach viewers who are already on those platforms, without needing a second program or a second internet connection in your studio: the server does the sending.

The platform receives whatever your channel's viewers see: the playlist, a live broadcast from OBS or a camera, a restream, together with your overlays and watermark. When the source changes (e.g. you go live), the change shows on the platform too, without you doing anything.

Availability and limit

  • This feature is available on packages that include it. If Stream Targets in the menu has a yellow PRO badge, the page only shows a description of the feature and the message Contact administrator for upgrade. Ask us to upgrade your package (see Upgrading your package).
  • Your package also sets how many targets you can have. At the top of the page, next to Stream to multiple platforms simultaneously, the "N / maximum" counter shows how many you have and how many are allowed. The add card shows Remaining: N, or Targets limit when you've reached the maximum.

Before you start

  • You need an account on each platform with live streaming enabled, and its Stream Key (see the table below).
  • Your channel must be running for a target to start. If it's stopped, the page shows Stream is offline — Start stream first to enable targets, with a Go to Live Stream link, and the Start buttons are disabled.
  • The picture sent has the resolution, fps and quality of your channel's output (see Output quality and latency).

Where to find each platform's Stream Key

PlatformWhere
YouTubeYouTube Studio → Create → Go live → Stream settings → Stream key. The first time, YouTube may take up to 24 hours to enable live streaming on your channel.
FacebookFacebook → Live video or Live Producer → Streaming software (Use Stream Key) → Stream key. Facebook often gives a key that's valid for one broadcast only. If you want a permanent one, enable the persistent stream key option where available.
TwitchCreator Dashboard → Settings → Stream → Primary Stream key.
KickKick Dashboard → Settings → Stream.
TikTokYou need an account with LIVE access (usually 1000+ followers). TikTok provides the key (LIVE → RTMP / LIVE Studio).
RumbleRumble Studio → Live Stream → Stream Key.
TrovoTrovo Dashboard → Stream Settings → Stream Key.
Restream.ioRestream Dashboard → Channel Settings: copy the RTMP URL and Stream Key. Useful if you want to send to more platforms than your package's target count allows.

The panel shows a short hint for each platform under the RTMP URL field. Platform menus change often, so if you can't find something, search the platform's help for "stream key".

Each platform's Stream Key is like a password: anyone who has it can broadcast on your channel there. Don't share it.

1. Add a target

  1. In the menu, under Streaming, click Stream Targets.
  2. Click Add Target. The Add Stream Target window opens.
  3. Under Select platform, click the platform (YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, Kick, TikTok, Rumble, Trovo, Restream, Custom RTMP, etc.). The RTMP URL is filled in automatically. Don't change it unless the platform gives you a different address.
  4. In Name, enter something that helps you recognise it, e.g. "YouTube - main channel".
  5. In Stream Key, paste the platform's key. For security the key is hidden with dots. Click the eye icon to see it and check it was pasted correctly, with no spaces.
  6. Click Save. You'll see Target added and a new card on the page.

A platform that isn't on the list: Custom RTMP

Choose Custom RTMP. In RTMP URL enter the full RTMP address the platform gives you (it must start with rtmp:// or rtmps://), and in Stream Key the key. If the platform gives you a single combined address, split it: whatever comes after the last slash / is usually the key.

2. Start and stop

  1. Make sure the channel is running (Dashboard → Active).
  2. On the target's card, click Start. The button briefly shows "Starting..." and then you'll see Target started.
  3. The card's status changes to "Streaming" and "Uptime" starts counting.
  4. On the platform, the picture usually appears after 10-30 seconds. On some platforms, e.g. YouTube or Facebook depending on your settings, you also have to click "Go Live" there.
  5. To stop, click Stop. You'll see Target stopped.

Targets can also be started and stopped from Studio, in the Stream Targets list in the right-hand column (▶ / ■). There the status shows as "● Live", "● Error" (hover over it to see the error) or "○ Stopped".

Restart your targets after every channel restart. Targets don't start again by themselves; you start each target yourself, manually. If you stop or restart the channel (e.g. after a change to Output Settings, Overlay or Restream), open the Stream Targets page and make sure the targets say "Streaming". If not, click Start.

Each target's card

  • The platform icon and name, the Name you gave it, and the RTMP URL.
  • "Key:" with the first characters of the key and a copy button.
  • "Uptime:" how long it has been streaming.
  • The last error, in red, if there is one.
  • The status "Streaming" or "Stopped" and a Start / Stop button.
  • A ⋮ menu with Edit and Delete.

The page refreshes the targets' status by itself.

3. Editing and deleting

  • Edit: first click Stop, because you can't edit a target that's streaming. Then from ⋮ → Edit you can change the name, RTMP URL and Stream Key. Click Save. You'll see Target updated. You'll often need this for Facebook, where the key changes with each broadcast.
  • Delete: ⋮ → Delete → confirm Delete target "..."? You'll see Target deleted. Deleting frees up one place in your package limit.

Audio only: Icecast and Shoutcast

If you also run a radio station, you can send your channel's audio to a radio server. For example, your TV show can be heard at the same time on your web radio. The audio is sent as 128 kbps MP3. These options have no RTMP URL field; all the details go into one field:

PlatformField nameFormat
IcecastIcecast URLicecast://source:password@server:port/mount
Shoutcast v1Server:Port:Passwordserver:port:password
Shoutcast v2Stream URLhttp://source:password@server:port/

The details (server, port, source password, mount) come from your radio provider. If your radio station is hosted with us, send us a ticket and we'll help you with the right details.

What's sent, technically

  • Video: your channel's output picture as it is (same resolution, fps and bitrate as your Output Settings), with overlays and watermark.
  • Audio: 128 kbps AAC, stereo.
  • Delay: the picture reaches the platform with your own Stream Latency plus the platform's own delay. It's normal to see a difference of several seconds.
  • Your channel's picture is landscape (16:9). TikTok is designed for portrait video, so there your channel will appear landscape inside the portrait screen.
  • If YouTube shows a warning about the keyframe frequency, choose Low or Balanced under Stream Latency and restart.
