My website shows as "not secure"

The message "Your connection is not private" or "Not secure" means the browser doesn't accept your site's SSL certificate, or the page loads something without encryption. There are three common causes.

1. There is no certificate

Our hosting packages include a free certificate. See how to turn it on: cPanel or Plesk. To be issued, the domain must already point to our server.

2. The certificate has expired

Free certificates renew automatically. If something prevented the renewal (e.g. the nameservers or DNS changed), the browser shows a warning. Open a support ticket so we can look into it.

3. Mixed content

The certificate is fine, but the page loads images, scripts or a stream over http://. Change those links to https://. In WordPress, see cPanel: WordPress on HTTPS or Plesk: WordPress on HTTPS.

If you can't find which item is to blame, send us the page address and we'll tell you exactly.
