cPanel: Backing up and restoring files, databases and email
8 viewsFrom cPanel you can keep your own backups and restore parts of your hosting. You log in with Login to Panel (see cPanel: Logging in).
Downloading a backup
Go to Files → Backup:
- Full Backup: your whole account (files, databases, email, settings) in one file.
- Partial Backups: separately your files folder (Home Directory), each database (Databases), forwarders (Email Forwarders) and email filters (Email Filters).
Download the files and keep them on your computer or other storage.
Restoring
- In the same place (Restore), you upload a partial backup: files, a database or email settings.
- You can do the same step by step with the Backup Wizard.
- A Full Backup can't be restored from cPanel. Open a support ticket and we'll do it for you.
Tip: take a backup before big changes, such as WordPress updates or a theme change.
