Multicast Radio: Custom Domain - your station on your own domain with HTTPS

With Custom Domain, your station plays from an address on your own domain, e.g. https://radio.mystation.com, instead of our server's address. Your station's public page also opens on the same domain. The SSL certificate (HTTPS) is issued free and automatically by Let's Encrypt.

Before you start

  • The feature must be in your package. If Custom Domain in the menu has a PRO badge, enable it from your service page in the Client Area (Configuration & Details card).
  • You need a domain and access to its DNS settings: in the Client Area if the domain is with us (How to change DNS records), or at the provider where it's registered.
  • Use a subdomain, e.g. radio.mystation.com or live.mystation.com. That way your main domain (mystation.com) stays free for your website.
  • Each station can have one custom domain.

Step 1: Set Domain

  1. Go to Streaming → Custom Domain.
  2. Type the subdomain, e.g. radio.mystation.com, without http:// and without a trailing /.
  3. Click Add. You'll see a message (in Greek) saying the domain was saved and you should set up DNS, and the status Pending DNS.

Step 2: DNS Setup

The page shows the record you need to create:

FieldWhat to enter
TypeA
Name / HostThe first part of the subdomain, e.g. radio
Value / Points to / IPThe IP address shown on the page
TTLThe default, or 3600
  1. Open your domain's DNS management and add the A record.
  2. If a record already exists for the same name (A, AAAA or CNAME), delete it; otherwise the check or the SSL will fail.
  3. Wait. Usually 5-30 minutes is enough, but it can take up to 24 hours.
  4. In the panel, click Verify DNS. If everything is right, you'll see a message that DNS was verified and you can enable SSL, and the status becomes DNS OK.
If you really want the main domain (e.g. mystation.com without a subdomain): in DNS management the A record's Name is @ (or left empty), not what the page shows. The main domain then can't also serve your website.

Step 3: SSL Certificate

  1. Click Enable SSL.
  2. You'll see "Creating SSL certificate...". It takes up to two minutes; don't close the page.
  3. When it's done you'll see "SSL enabled!" and the page refreshes. The status becomes Active.

For the certificate to be issued, port 80 of the domain must reach our server. If you use Cloudflare, set the record to DNS only (grey cloud), not Proxied. The certificate renews automatically before it expires.

Once it's active

The page shows "Custom domain is active!" and the new addresses:

AddressWhat it is
https://radio.mystation.com/Your station's public page.
https://radio.mystation.com/listenThe listening link. Use it in players, apps and on your website.
…/listen.m3u, .m3u8, .pls, .asx, .xspfPlaylist files for VLC, Winamp, Windows Media Player etc.

For website players always use https://…/listen. The old links (/listen/username on our server) keep working.

The right-hand column shows the certificate details (Days Remaining, issuer), a QR code and Recent Actions.

Regenerate Config and removing the domain

  • Regenerate Config: if something stops working on the custom domain while the station plays normally, click it to rewrite the domain's settings.
  • Remove: the domain is disconnected from the station and its addresses stop working. Remember to delete the A record too.

Common problems

MessageSolution
Μη έγκυρο domain format (invalid domain format)Enter just the domain, e.g. radio.mystation.com, without https://, spaces or /.
Αυτό το domain χρησιμοποιείται ήδη (domain already in use)The domain is already connected to another station. Contact us.
Δεν βρέθηκε A record. (no A record found)The record hasn't been created or hasn't propagated yet. Check the Name and wait a little.
Το A record δείχνει σε X. Πρέπει να δείχνει σε Y (the A record points to X, it must point to Y)The record has the wrong IP, or there is a second A record for the same name. Fix it so there's only one, with the IP from the page. If the IP shown belongs to Cloudflare, set the record to DNS only.
SSL failed: …Usually port 80 doesn't reach the server: Cloudflare set to Proxied, or an AAAA (IPv6) record pointing elsewhere. Fix it and click Enable SSL again. If it persists, send us a ticket.
SSL pendingWe'll complete the certificate. Click Check SSL later, or send us a ticket.
