MediaCP: Live streaming with OBS
5894 viewsTo go live on your channel you need broadcasting software (an encoder). To start, we recommend the free OBS Studio. Wirecast and vMix work too.
1. Get the connection details
- Log in to MediaCP with Login to Panel (see MediaCP: First steps).
- Click Overview next to your service. On the service page (Service Overview) you'll find the RTMP details: the server address and the stream key.
2. Set up OBS
- In OBS, go to Settings → Stream.
- Under Service, choose Custom....
- In Server enter the RTMP address and in Stream Key the key, as shown in MediaCP.
- Under Output, use H.264 video and AAC audio, with a bitrate no higher than your package's bitrate.
- Click OK and then Start Streaming.
What happens when you're live
- Your live stream immediately takes over from the channel's playlist.
- When you stop, the playlist carries on by itself. See MediaCP: Uploading videos and your channel's schedule.
- If you also play videos from a playlist, keep the same format (resolution, bitrate) in your live stream, so the stream doesn't cut out at the switch.
