Multicast Radio gives you ready-made players and widgets that you add to your website by copy and paste, without any programming. You'll find them on two pages in the Streaming menu: Quick Links and Widgets.

How to put code on my website

  1. Choose a player or widget and set the colours, size and language. The preview updates immediately.
  2. Click Copy on the code (it starts with <iframe or <audio).
  3. On your website, paste it somewhere that accepts HTML:
    • WordPress: a Custom HTML block on a page, or a "Custom HTML" widget in the sidebar/footer.
    • Wix: Add → Embed Code → Embed HTML.
    • Joomla / others: in an article or module, with the editor in HTML/code mode.
  4. Save and view your page.

If you change the settings later (e.g. from Compact to Full), the code changes. Copy it again and replace the old one.

Quick Links

The page has four tabs.

Quick Links

  • Stream URL (Proxy): the main listening link (https://…/listen/username). Give this one to apps, radio directories (e.g. TuneIn, radio.net) and smart speakers.
  • Direct URL: a direct connection to the server, with a port number.
  • VLC Media Player: download an .m3u file and open it with VLC. Alternatively: in VLC click Media → Open Network Stream and paste the Stream URL (Proxy).
  • The station's Public Page.
  • iPhone / iPad: open the Stream URL (Proxy) in Safari, or the Public Page.
  • Android: open the Stream URL (Proxy) in Chrome or in an app such as VLC for Android.
  • A QR Code that opens the public page on a phone.

Native Player

The station player, in two sizes: Compact Player (small, 80 pixels high, ideal for a sidebar or header) and Full Player (large, 450 pixels, with cover art and more information). You set the Station Name, background colour, text colour and Autoplay. Colours are written in hex, e.g. 4facfe. If the fields are empty, the Public Page title and colour are used.

Widget Player

A minimal player with the station title, what's playing now and a play button, in a dark or light theme. It only works while the Public Page is enabled.

HTML Player

The browser's simple player (<audio>), without an iframe. Useful if your website doesn't accept iframes, or if you want to style it yourself.

Widgets

WidgetWhat it shows
PlayerThe station player, Compact or Full, in your colours.
Live ListenersHow many are listening now, with a Live/Offline indicator. Refreshes every 30 seconds.
Listeners MapA map of current and past listeners.
Track HistoryThe last 1 to 20 tracks.
Song RequestsThe request form. See Requests.
DedicationsListeners' dedications, as a scrolling bar (Ticker) or a list of cards.
Quick LinksThe listening links, for visitors to copy.
JSON APIFor developers: what's playing, listeners, history, dedications and station details as JSON, so you can build your own design.

Most widgets let you set the Theme (Dark, Light, Transparent), Language, Width and Height. The width also accepts a percentage, e.g. 100%, so the widget adapts to phones.

The player on my website doesn't play

If your station is playing (you can hear it on the Dashboard) but the player on your website isn't, the cause is almost always one of the following.

1. An http link on an https website

When your website opens with https://, the browser blocks audio coming from an http:// link, without any message. Use the Stream URL (Proxy), which is always https on the standard port. If you built your own player, use this link.

2. Autoplay

Browsers don't allow sound to start automatically before the visitor clicks something. Make sure the player has a visible play button.

3. The station is off air or the public page is off

Check on the Dashboard that the status is Active. The Widget Player also needs the Public Page to be enabled.

4. Extensions and ad blockers

Try a private window or another browser. Some ad blockers block iframes or audio streams.

5. The code was broken when pasting

Some text editors turn code into plain text. If your page shows the code instead of the player, paste it into an HTML block, not a text block.

6. The listener limit is full

If your package's limit of simultaneous listeners is full, new listeners can't connect. Check the listener count on the Dashboard and the limit under Settings → My Package.
