Live streaming to Facebook with OBS

15059 views

With the free OBS Studio (for Windows, Mac and Linux) you stream live to your Facebook page or profile from your computer.

1. Download OBS Studio

Download it from obsproject.com and install it.

2. Get the Stream Key from Facebook

  1. On a computer, open Facebook's Live Producer.
  2. Under the video source, choose Streaming software.
  3. Facebook shows a Server URL and a Stream key. Copy both.
  4. If you stream often, you can choose a persistent stream key, so you don't have to change it every time.

Facebook often renames its options. If you can't find them exactly like this, look for "Live" or "Live video" and "Streaming software".

3. Set up OBS

  1. In OBS, go to Settings → Stream.
  2. Under Service, choose Facebook Live (or Custom, and enter the Server URL).
  3. Paste the Stream Key and click OK.
  4. Click Start Streaming.
  5. Go back to Live Producer. When you see the stream preview, click Go live.

Streaming to Facebook from your panel

If you have a station or channel on one of our panels, you can send your stream to Facebook (and YouTube, Twitch and more) without a second OBS, using Stream Targets:
