Multicast Video: Video Library - ready-made content for your channel

The Video Library is a shared collection of videos, organised into categories, which we maintain. From there you copy videos to your channel with one click, without having to find, convert and upload them yourself. It's ideal for getting a new channel going quickly, or for "filling" a playlist while you prepare your own material.

Before you start

  • Availability: the Library is available on packages that include it. If you see a PRO badge on Content → Video Library in the menu, click it to see what it offers and ask us to upgrade your package (see Upgrading or downgrading your package). If the item doesn't appear in the menu at all, the Library isn't available at the moment.
  • Space and number of videos: every video you import is copied to your account. It takes space from your package and counts towards your maximum number of videos, just like a video you uploaded yourself. At the top of the page you can see how much space (MB) and how many videos you've used out of your package limit.
  • Format: Library videos are already MP4, ready for streaming. After importing they are Ready immediately, with no waiting for optimizing.

The categories

Go to Content → Video Library. At the top it says "Browse and import videos to your library". Below that you see category cards, each with a picture, name, number of videos and total size in MB. The total size helps you see whether a whole category fits in your space.

Importing videos step by step

  1. Click a category. A table appears with the Thumbnail, Title, Format, Resolution, Duration, Bitrate and Size of each video.
  2. To watch a video before importing it, click its thumbnail. A player window opens.
  3. Above the table, choose which folder the videos go into:
    • Main folder (root), i.e. no folder,
    • one of your folders, or
    • New Folder: opens a window where you type the new folder's name (e.g. "Documentaries").
  4. Import in one of three ways:
    • One video: click the download button (⬇ icon) at the end of its row.
    • Selected videos: tick the videos you want (or the box in the table header for all) and click Import Selected (N).
    • The whole category: click Import All and confirm in the window that opens.
  5. Wait while it says "Importing...". For one video you'll see "Video imported!". For several, you'll see Import Complete with how many succeeded and how many had errors.
  6. Videos you've already imported show a green ✓ and an Imported badge, and can't be selected again.
  7. Click Back to return to the categories.

The videos appear straight away under Videos, in the folder you chose (see Managing videos).

Putting the videos on air

Importing does not add the videos to a playlist. For them to play:

  1. Go to Content → Playlists and click Manage on the playlist you want.
  2. In the Add Videos card, choose the folder you imported into from the folder filter.
  3. Click Entire folder and confirm.
  4. Click Save List and, if the playlist isn't already the active one, Activate.

In detail: Playlists. That's why it's a good idea to import each category into its own folder.

Good to know

  • Import All and space: before it starts, it checks whether all the videos in the category that you don't already have fit in your space. If they don't, nothing is imported and you see Storage limit exceeded. Import selected videos instead.
  • Import All and the video limit: if the category has more videos than your package still allows, only as many as fit within the limit are imported.
  • Import All on a category you've used before: only the videos you don't already have are imported. If you have them all, you'll see "All videos already imported".
  • Main folder with Import All: if you leave Main folder (root), the videos automatically go into a folder named after the category.
  • The Imported badge: it also goes by title or file name. If you already have your own video with the same title, it may show as imported when it isn't.
  • A copy, not a link: the video you import is your own copy. You can change its title, trim it or delete it without affecting the Library. If you delete it, you can import it again.
  • If the feature is removed from your package, the videos you've already imported stay in your account.
