Contact information (WHOIS), domain add-ons and ID protection

Every domain has the details of its owner and contacts registered at the registry. These must be correct: the registry sends confirmations, transfer codes and notices to them, and they're how you prove the domain is yours.

Changing contact information

  1. Go to Domains → My Domains → Manage on the domain.
  2. Open the Contact Information card and click to manage the contact information.
  3. The window shows the contacts held by the registry: Registrant and, depending on the extension, Administrative, Technical and Billing.
  4. Correct the fields you need.
  5. Click Save. You'll see that the contact information was saved.
  • Enter the phone number with the country code, e.g. +30.2101234567, if the registry requires it.
  • For some extensions the details are read-only. To change them, send us a ticket.
  • For .gr the owner's name and company name are locked. Changing them is an ownership transfer: Changing the owner of a .gr domain. Address, email and phone can be changed as usual.

The domain's details are separate from your Client Area account details (My Details). If you change your address or email, change it in both places.

Who sees my details (WHOIS)

WHOIS shows public information about a domain: when it was registered, when it expires, which nameservers it has. You can check any domain from Domains → WHOIS.

  • For .gr the owner's details aren't published.
  • For most international extensions, individuals' personal details are usually hidden by the registries themselves. For extra privacy there's ID Protection, where available.

Domain add-ons

The Domain Addons card on the domain page shows the add-ons available for its extension, with status Active / Inactive and price per year (or Free):

Add-onWhat it does
DNS ManagementYou set DNS records yourself without hosting. See DNS Management.
ID ProtectionHides your personal details from public WHOIS, for extensions that support it. It is enabled automatically once paid.
Email ForwardingForwards the domain's email to another address, without a mailbox. After enabling it, send us a ticket with the addresses you want forwarded.

Enabling

  1. Click Enable on the add-on's line.
  2. If it's free, it's enabled immediately. If it's paid, you see the amount for the rest of the current period until the domain expires. Confirm to create a proforma invoice.
  3. Pay it. The add-on is enabled on payment and from then on renews together with the domain. Until then the line shows Payment pending; clicking it opens the proforma invoice.

Disabling

Click Disable and confirm. It stops immediately and isn't charged at future renewals. There's no refund for the period you've already paid.

The card only shows for active domains and only if there are add-ons for the extension.

Problems

ProblemWhat to do

Saving failsCheck the phone and email format, and that you've filled in all fields. If it continues, send a ticket with the message you see.
WHOIS still shows the old detailsSome registries update WHOIS with a delay of up to a day.
