Multicast Radio: Backup - backups of your station's music
3 viewsApplies to: Multicast Radio. Not sure which panel you have? See Which radio or video panel do I have?
Backup keeps a copy of your station's music, so you can restore it if you delete something by mistake, or download it to your computer.
Before you start
- The feature must be in your package. If Backup in the Account menu has a PRO badge, enable it from your service page in the Client Area (Configuration & Details card).
- Check carefully what the backup includes, in the table below.
What's included and what isn't

So the backup protects your music, which is the hardest thing to rebuild. Keep notes or screenshots of your schedule and settings.
Automatic and manual backups
- Auto Backup: runs by itself once a week, early on Sunday morning. The most recent one is kept: when a new one completes, the previous one is deleted.
- Manual Backup: you create it whenever you want, e.g. before big changes. You can have one manual backup at a time; for a new one, delete the old one first.
The page shows the status of each (Completed, Uploaded, Running or Failed), the Date, the Size and how many Tracks it contains.
Creating a manual backup
- Go to Account → Backup.
- Click Create Backup in the Manual Backup card.
- You'll see Backup in Progress with a progress bar. For large libraries this can take several minutes.
- At the end you'll see Backup completed!
Downloading to your computer
Click Download on the backup's card. A .tar.gz file is downloaded, e.g. username_backup_manual_2026-10-15_103000.tar.gz. Open it with 7-Zip on Windows, or by double-clicking on Mac and Linux. Inside you'll find the folders tracks (your music with its folders), playlists, artwork and covers.
We recommend downloading a copy every few months and keeping it off the server too.
Restoring
- Click Restore on the backup you want.
- Read the message: the backup's files will replace current files with the same name.
- Click Restore. You'll see Restore in Progress and at the end Restore completed!
What a restore does:
- Brings back files that were deleted and adds them again under Tracks, with title and artist from their tags.
- Replaces files with the same name with the backup's version. If you trimmed or normalized a track after the backup, the old version comes back.
- Doesn't delete tracks you added after the backup.
- Doesn't rebuild playlists, schedules or settings. After a restore, check your playlists and add back the restored tracks if needed.
Deleting a backup
Click the bin icon and confirm. Deleting is permanent. You'll mainly need this to create a new manual backup.
Common problems
| Message / problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| "You already have a manual backup. Delete it first to create a new one." | Download the old one if you want it, delete it and create a new one. |
| "No automatic backup yet" | The first automatic backup runs on the Sunday after the feature is enabled. |
| The status is "Failed" | Try creating a new manual backup. If it fails again, send us a ticket. |
| Download says "Backup not ready" or "Backup file not available" | The backup hasn't finished or is being transferred. Try again in a few minutes. |
| I restored but schedules / DJs are missing | These aren't included in the backup (see the table above). |
