Setting up email on your computer and phone (Outlook, Thunderbird, iPhone, Android)
225 viewsYour email account works in any program or phone. The exact settings depend on the email service you have.
Where do I find my settings
- Email on cPanel hosting: in cPanel, Email Accounts → Connect Devices. See cPanel: Email accounts.
- Email on Plesk hosting: in Plesk, Mail Accounts → info icon → Manual Setup. See Plesk: Email accounts.
- Professional Email: on the service page in the Client Area, Connection Settings section. See Professional Email: Setting up on computer and phone.
What you'll need
- Username: the full email address (e.g.
info@yourdomain.com). - Password: the email account's password, not the panel's.
- The incoming and outgoing server, as shown by your service.
IMAP or POP3?
Choose IMAP if you read your email on more than one device: messages stay on the server and sync everywhere. POP3 downloads them to one device and usually deletes them from the server.
Common encrypted ports
| Protocol | Port | Security |
|---|---|---|
| IMAP | 993 | SSL/TLS |
| POP3 | 995 | SSL/TLS |
| SMTP | 465 | SSL/TLS |
| SMTP (alternative) | 587 | STARTTLS |
The outgoing server (SMTP) always requires authentication with the same details (username and password).
Not sending?
Some internet providers block sending ports. Try the other port (465 or 587). If it still won't send, open a support ticket with the error message.
