How to connect my domain to Blogger (Blogspot)
6164 viewsIf your blog is on Blogger, you can have it open with your own domain (e.g. www.yourdomain.com) instead of ....blogspot.com.
1. Start in Blogger
- In Blogger, go to Settings → Publishing → Custom domain and enter
www.yourdomain.com. - Blogger will show you two CNAME records: one for
www(toghs.google.com) and a personal one for verification. Keep them.
2. Add the DNS records
Automatically (DNS at Magic Streams)
If your domain has DNS Management active (see DNS Management):
- Go to Domains → My Domains → Manage on the domain and open the DNS Manager card.
- Click Configure Google Blogger.
- In the Verification CNAME — name and Verification CNAME — target fields, paste your personal verification record from Blogger.
- Click Add records. All the records in the table below are added.
Manually
Otherwise, add the records wherever you manage your domain's DNS:
| Type | Name | Value |
|---|---|---|
| CNAME | www | ghs.google.com |
| CNAME | the verification record from Blogger | the value Blogger gave you |
| A | @ (the bare domain) | 216.239.32.21 |
| A | @ | 216.239.34.21 |
| A | @ | 216.239.36.21 |
| A | @ | 216.239.38.21 |
The four A records make the bare yourdomain.com go to the blog.
3. Finish in Blogger
After a while (once the changes have spread), go back to Blogger and save the custom domain. Also turn on the redirect from the bare domain to www, if offered.
If the blog still doesn't open after a day, open a support ticket.
